Creating a Giveaway

You can launch a giveaway two ways, and both give you the full set of options: the dashboard has the create form and the live entrant view, and /giveaway start opens an interactive setup preview right in Discord, so staff who never touch the dashboard get every option too. (The New giveaway button in /giveaway manage opens the same preview.)

With the slash command#

/giveaway start <prize> [winners] [duration] [channel] [required-role] [blacklist-role] [host] [starts-in]

Only the prize is required. Everything else falls back to your server's saved defaults or the standard ones (1 winner, 24 hours, your active channel), and you can change all of it in the preview before anything posts.

Running the command shows a private preview of the exact giveaway message, with buttons to adjust everything:

• Edit details: prize, winners, duration, and the scheduled start (Premium).
• Requirements: pick one or many required roles and blocked roles with a role picker, choose whether members need every role or any one of them, toggle winner DMs, set bonus entries, bypass roles, and age minimums (Premium). See Requirements and Entries.
• Appearance: the entry button's label and emoji, the embed title, message, and color, an image (Large or Small), and the button color (Premium).
• Premium extras: show someone else as the host, give winners a role automatically, and set a winner claim window.

When it looks right, press Post giveaway. Nothing posts until you do, so you can never launch a half-configured giveaway by accident.

Option	Notes

duration	How long it runs, like 1h, 2d, or 1w. Default 24 hours.
channel	Where it posts. Defaults to your active channel (set with /channel).
required-role	Adds a required role. Pick more in the preview's role picker.
blacklist-role	Adds a blocked role. Pick more in the preview's role picker.
host	Show this member as "Hosted by" instead of you (Premium).
starts-in	Schedule the start for later, like 1h or 2d (Premium).

From the dashboard#

Open Configuration → Giveaways and fill in the create form:

Option	Notes
Prize	What you're giving away. Shown in the giveaway message.
Winners	How many members win. Up to 10 free, 50 with Premium.
Duration	How long it runs, like 1d, 12h, 1w.
Channel	Where it posts. Defaults to your selected channel.
Requirements	Required / blacklist roles, and the Premium options. See Requirements and Entries.
Custom embed	Style the giveaway message to match your server.
Embed image	A direct https image link shown on the giveaway. Pick Large for a full-width image or Small for a corner thumbnail.
Button label / emoji	Override the default 🎉 Enter button.
Giveaway host	Show a member of your choice as "Hosted by" instead of you, for giveaways you run on someone's behalf (Premium).
Winner claim window	Hours winners have to press Claim before their slot is rerolled. See claim windows (Premium).
Schedule start	Post the giveaway later, at a set time (Premium).

Press create and Zira posts the giveaway (or holds it until its scheduled start).

One thing is set in stone: the prize cannot be changed after a giveaway is created. Everything else can be edited while it runs, but the prize people entered for stays the prize, so nobody can be baited into entering for one thing and drawn for another. If you named the wrong prize, cancel the giveaway and start a new one.

Scheduled start#

A scheduled giveaway is created now but posts at the time you set, then runs for its duration from that point. You can schedule from the dashboard's Schedule start field or with the slash command's starts-in option.

• Send Messages and Embed Links in the giveaway channel.
• Read Message History so Zira can edit the giveaway message to show the winners and the live count.

If Zira cannot post in the channel you picked, the preview tells you and nothing is created; pick another channel and press Post again.
