Settings and Access
Control who can manage Zira, choose the bot language, enable role DMs and logs, and create color roles.
Open your server in the Dashboard, then choose General Settings. Save changes before leaving the page.
Command Role#
Normally, management commands and the dashboard require Manage Server. A command role changes that rule in two ways:
- Members with the selected role can manage Zira without Manage Server.
- Everyone else is locked out, even if they have Manage Server.
The server owner and Administrators always keep access. Choose this role carefully because its members can change every ordinary server setting, including the command role itself.
You can also manage it in Discord:
/config role set <Role>
/config role disable
Use a Giveaway Manager Role when someone should manage giveaways but not the rest of Zira.
Role-change DMs#
Premium servers can privately tell members whenever Zira adds or removes one of their roles. Turn on DM on role change, or toggle it with /dm.
Discord users can block server DMs. A blocked DM does not undo the role change, and Zira cannot force the message through.
Bot language#
Choose a language under Bot language, or use /language.
- Automatic follows the server's language setting in Discord.
- A specific language overrides the server setting for Zira's replies, menus, and DMs.
- The dashboard interface uses each viewer's own dashboard language and is configured separately.
Role log channel#
Pick a text channel to receive a record whenever Zira adds or removes a role through reaction roles, Button Roles, Auto Roles, Timed Roles, Temporary Roles, Voice Roles, giveaways, or other Zira role flows.
When you save, Zira sends a confirmation message to the channel. If the setting saves but the confirmation fails, fix the channel permission named in the warning. The usual requirements are View Channel, Send Messages, and Embed Links.
You can also set or clear the channel with:
/logs roles set <Channel>
/logs roles disable
Color roles#
The Color Roles card creates one of four coordinated packs: 8, 16, 32, or 64 colors. Packs use unique role names, so you can add more later without replacing earlier colors.
After creating roles, choose Post color menu to publish one or more select-menu messages members can use. Zira previews how existing color menus will be filled before anything is posted.
Zira needs Manage Roles, and the generated roles must remain below Zira's highest role. See Color Roles for the command version.
Before you lock yourself out#
After changing access settings:
- Save the page.
- Confirm the selected role still exists and is assigned to the intended helpers.
- Keep an Administrator account available as a recovery path.
- Test with a helper account before removing anyone's old Discord permissions.
